Comments: Classic hand hammer with overall phallic form, flaring base and a ring and nipple finial. Wilson Duff describes the imagery implicit in hand hammers in Images Stone BC - pestles as “Images of Power” (p. 179). This is an exceptional example with a fine and highly polished surface. It previously descended as a family heirloom over many generations of use and care.
